The Depot Players Choose 101 DALMATIANS for Summer Program

(5/13/2013) - Does your child need an enriching summer activity? Is your child a future Broadway star? Join us this summer and Act Up at the Depot for theatre training in a fun, supportive environment. Acting Up is an ongoing summer program provided by the Depot Players for area children. Led by trained Depot volunteers the program teaches children the basics of acting, stage movement, dance and singing all in an exciting and nurturing environment. The program is limited to the first 20 students enrolled. The program culminates to two public performances of the staged musical version of the classic Disney movie 101 Dalmatians featuring the adorable Dalmatian puppies and the evil Cruella Deville.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival Begins 4/20

(4/2/2013) - The Alabama Shakespeare Festival's spring repertory season will be in full bloom with the openings of two new plays, Around the World in 80 Days in the Festival Theatre and the Tony Award-winning comedy God of Carnage in the Octagon Theatre, on April 20. Both shows run through May 19. (3/13/2013) - The Alabama Shakespeare Festival's touring production of William Shakespeare's hilarious comedy Twelfth Night will be coming home for a limited run in the theatre's intimate Octagon stage, March 26-30. There will be additional performances on April 30 and May 9.

New Work at RMTC Commemorates Civil Rights Movement, 4/11-14

(3/12/2013) - Red Mountain Theatre Company will bring The MLK Project to stage April 11-14, 2013, as part of the 50th Anniversary commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement. This new work is a collaboration with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and stars RMTC favorite Cecil Washington (The Color Purple, Rent).

(3/8/2013) - Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, To Kill a Mockingbird, will be staged at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival tonight, March 8-24. Four additional performances will take place May 12, 15, 17 and 18 during ASF's final week of the repertory season. Adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, the play is directed by Diana Van Fossen.

Depot Players Stages A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS Tonight

(2/12/2013) - Love ... in a single moment it can make us laugh and move us to tears. It changes lives, moves mountains and makes us feel complete. Love and all its wondrous ways will find its way into your heart as the Wetumpka Depot Players present a one night only production of A R Gurney's Pulitzer nominated play, Love Letters. Tonight's February 12 performance is a season extra featuring Kristy Meanor, Depot Player's executive director and Greg Thornton, artistic director of the Cloverdale Playhouse. The special event program will benefit youth programs at the Depot Theatre and is a delightful addition to the company's 33rd season.
