October is known for fairs, football, fall weather and festivals. This year will also be remembered for fantastic theatre as The Depot Players play host for a fall festival of comedies, dramas and musicals all presented for ACTFEST13, the state community theatre festival October 26-28. Community theatres from across the state and River Region will be producing a variety of plays throughout the weekend all on the Depot stage. ACTFEST13 is in association with the Alabama Conference on Theatre, an umbrella organization that promotes theatre state wide.

Tom Salter, president of the Alabama Conference on Theatre said, “It is fitting to host the festival in Wetumpka this year in celebration of The Wetumpka Depot Player’s past success in the festival.” Salter, director of the nationally recognized award winning Depot production Second Samuel, anticipates several hundred participants and audience members from across the state to join in the festival activities next weekend.

Depot executive director Kristy Meanor said “The Depot is delighted to share our stage with other community theatre groups from across the state including two other River Region companies, The Millbrook Community Players and The Red Door Theatre. The quality and variety of productions presented will be a rare treat for theatre lovers across the River Region.”

Tickets may be purchased at the door for individual performances or festival passes may be purchased for the entire weekend. All festival information may be found at wetumpkadepot.com or by calling the box office at 334-868-1440.
